These terms apply to use of the CarCause public beta. By using CarCause, you agree to use its guidance responsibly and within the limits described below.
Diagnostic guidance, not a repair guarantee
CarCause provides informational diagnostic assistance based on the information you enter and available data sources. Results are estimates and troubleshooting suggestions, not a guarantee that a particular component failed, that a repair will solve the problem, or that a vehicle is safe to drive.
Safety comes first
You are responsible for deciding whether it is safe to inspect, test, drive, or repair a vehicle. Stop driving and seek qualified help when a problem may involve braking, steering, fuel leakage, smoke or fire, oil pressure, overheating, severe vibration, electrical hazards, or another safety-critical condition. Follow manufacturer procedures and use appropriate tools and protective equipment.
Vehicle information and third-party data
You are responsible for entering accurate vehicle and symptom information. Public vehicle, recall, map, business, and other third-party information can be incomplete, delayed, or unavailable. Recall campaign matches by year, make, and model do not prove that a specific VIN has an open recall; verify the VIN through the manufacturer or NHTSA.
Accounts and acceptable use
You are responsible for protecting your account credentials. Do not use CarCause to abuse, overload, probe, reverse engineer, interfere with, or obtain unauthorized access to the service or its providers. Automated or excessive requests may be limited or blocked to protect availability and operating costs.
Beta availability
CarCause is a public beta and may change, experience interruptions, contain errors, or remove features. Diagnostic, account, government-data, and repair-search services depend on third-party systems that may also be unavailable.
No warranty
To the extent permitted by law, CarCause is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis without warranties that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular repair decision. Nothing in these terms excludes rights that cannot legally be excluded.
Changes
These terms may be updated as the service develops. Continued use after an updated version becomes effective means the updated terms apply to future use.
